Swedish atmospheric Black Metal duo BLACK BIRCH, consisting of Gina Wiklund and Ulf Blomberg are making waves in the music industry. With influences from crust, post-metal and black metal they've created a sound that's both classic and contemporary, fusing atmospheric harmonies with heavy midsections and an intensely passionate vocal attack.
The duo started out in the last days of 2022 releasing their first song ‘Weak’ in January 2023. Followed by a new release on the last Friday of each month resulting in totally 12 releases. Their innovative approach to write a new song each month and record everything in their home in rural Sweden has already won them international recognition, with regular airplay on BBC 1 and Australia's Triple J as well as features in Metalhammer UK, OX Fanzine, Decibel, No Clean Singing, Idioteq amongst others.
On September 1st they released their self titled, hand screen printed 12” 4-track EP in collaboration with Spanish Vita Detestabilis Records and US Fiadh Productions, which sold out on release day. (Limited to 250 copies)

"Black Birch has created an extraordinary debut with uncompromising melodies, ecstatic notes, darkness and despair."
"For a genre that relies so heavily on clean guitar tones, few bands get it as right as Black Birch. Despite a somewhat saturated scene, Black Birch sounds like a group of seasoned black metal veterans, and not relative newcomers…"
"The duo showcases an electrifying potency - boasts a vast emotional depth that compels multiple spins."
"What separates them is the clever interchanging of these calmer passages with the raw balls-to-the-wall rage intensity, hinting at a subtle and intricate talent for song composition and psychology."
"It is deranged, gloriously heavy and wonderfully atmospheric. At times breathtaking, it’s a staggering debut."
"Black Birch are so powerful when they storm that you know the storm will come again, and so it does - immersing the listener in maniacally booming rhythms, cauterizing vocals, and powerful tides of distressing melody."
